Gather Catering is the passionate pursuit of husband and wife duo Camilla Sherret and Newell Orfei.
Bringing experience and a personal love of food to all events – we create menus from scratch with locally-sourced ingredients. Our boutique catering company has a strong, inventive, proven team of chefs, cooks and professional servers.

CAMILLA SHERRET Owner / Operations & Event Manager
A born-and-raised Calgarian, Camilla has worked in many venues of the food industry over the last 20 years throughout Calgary, New York, Washington D.C and Banff. She studied health-supportive culinary arts at The Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan.
She then continued her training by working as a personal chef, caterer and in restaurants throughout the Eastern United States. There she had the opportunity to work for The New York Yankees, Lenny Kravitz and Ralph Lauren.
Upon returning to Canada she opened, and was the owner-operator of, The Bison Restaurant & Lounge in Banff. She returned to Calgary, and catering in 2009 which has provided her and Newell the opportunity to work with many amazing clients, on a wide variety of events

NEWELL ORFEI Owner / Chef
Newell is a self-trained chef from Calgary Alberta. He started his culinary Journey at 15 and has worked all roles within the front and back of the house throughout several restaurants and catering companies, and most recently, as a private Chef to high-end personal and corporate clients.
Newell attributes his success as a chef to three things:
His early influence of, from scratch, elevated food growing up with in an Indo-Trinidadian and Italian heritage (his grandmother is still as his greatest culinary mentor).
His global approach, having worked and travelled in Manila, Hong Kong, California, Mexico and the Caribbean.
His passion to continue learning and creating both old and new world dishes.

Our staff are an integral part of the Gather team. They are a representation of us when on an event; we take pride in having them work with our clients. We met these highly talented, experienced and knowledgeable service staff and chefs over our many years working in the industry and are honoured to have them as part of the Gather team.
CAREY VAN ASWEGAN
Carey is from the beautiful city of Cape Town and has been part of the catering team for over three years. She has a great passion for event management and 20 years of events industry experience
planning, coordinating and delivering on event objectives. She has had the privilege of working with people from all over the world coordinating both small and large scale events from a corporate sponsorship, venue management and catering perspective. She is a graduate of the Olds College Hospitality & Tourism Management program.
Remy joined the the catering team earlier this year, bringing over a decade of experience in the food & service industry. He has an artistic side that certainly shines with food presentation. While a self-described 'back-of-house' type, he has thoroughly enjoyed the interactions with clients in their homes and at corporate events, especially when they ask about the delicious food. Remy revels in the creative approach to developing recipes and playing with ingredients and flavour profiles.
Britney has a genuine passion for events and service with six years experience as part of the catering team. With over a decade in the industry she has learned and grown exponentially. “Catering is both exciting and rewarding, specifically because of the amazing clients we get to create memories for.”
Meet Melanie, one of our Catering Leads! Mel has been on the team since 2013. When Mel isn’t working with us, she’s working as a communications professional by day. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, trying new food, and hanging out in the mountains. Fun fact about Mel; her love can be bought with homemade pasta or a bowl of traditional pho.
Adam has worked part time as part of the catering team for the last seven years. He started his catering journey in New York City, working for the city's top six catering companies for over two years. After a long physical day at a performance automotive shop, his energy seems to recharge as soon as he arrives at a catering event. Being a quintessential extrovert, he loves being around people and socializing. The energy is always so positive when he serves the guests delicious food and drink. He always gets a lot of satisfaction from helping people. You can't help but have a good time!
Sara has been a part of the catering team since 2015. With a keen eye for detail, Sara will ensure that your event is a success from start to finish.
